A couple condemned to life in prison for the murder of their 10-month-old kid.

Finley Boden, who died on Christmas Day 2020, was murdered by Stephen Boden and his partner Shannon Marsden.
Finley was discovered to have 130 "appalling" injuries.
A couple condemned to life in prison for the murder of their 10-month-old kid.

Boden and Marsden, both of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, were sentenced to a minimum of 29 and 27 years in prison on Friday at Derby Crown Court.
In sentencing, Judge Amanda Tipples stated that the couple had shown "unimaginable cruelty" to their kid.
As the sentences were read, there was a single audible gasp from the public gallery, with the defendants huddled in their chairs, gazing ahead.
The murder was described as "savage and prolonged" with a "sadistic motivation" by the court.
...After Finley experienced a heart attack, paramedics were rushed to the couple's "cluttered" and filthy terraced home in Holland Road, Old Whittington, in the early hours of Christmas Day.
He was brought to the hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Finley suffered 57 bone fractures, 71 bruises, and two burns on his left hand, one from a "hot, flat surface" and the other most likely from a cigarette lighter flame.
According to the court, Finley's bone fractures caused him to acquire illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis, which finally killed him.
Toxicology testing revealed that cannabis was present in Finley's blood, indicating that he ingested marijuana in the 24 hours preceding his death.
Boden, 30, and Marsden, 22, who was convicted of murder after a trial, worked together to keep professionals away from Finley in order to protect each other and cover up significant violence, according to the court.
This includes canceling a health visitor appointment two days before his death and informing social services when they came unexpectedly that Finley could have Covid-19 and refusing to let them in.
The court called them "both persuasive and accomplished liars" for denying Finley life-saving medical treatment.
She stated that Finley had 46 rib fractures and 12 additional bone fractures, including those to his pelvis, both legs and right arm, between December 4 and December 22.
According to the court, they needed "considerable force" to inflict which meant he couldn't breathe properly.
Finley's everyday life became "one of considerable pain, distress, and suffering" after that.
"He could no longer sit up and play with his toys." "He couldn't feed himself," the judge stated.
Boden and Marsden, according to the court, used Covid as a "perfect excuse" to restrict social workers and Finley's family from visiting him.
In response to his numerous injuries, the court stated that they "could only have been achieved by two people acting together."
"No one heard Finley cry or scream in pain because you inflicted the injuries on him together, with one of you breaking his bones and the other keeping him quiet with your hand over his mouth," she said.
According to Prosecutor Mary Prior KC, Finley's injuries stopped him from eating, causing him to lose significant weight.
Mrs. Prior said Finley was forced to sleep on blood and vomit-stained blankets.
"The defendants knew they were causing serious harm [to Finley] and persisted with it - they were indifferent to it," she said.
She heard victim impact letters from the defendants' families, in which Finley was described as a "happy, chuckling baby" who was "callously abused."
"When Finley died, a part of us died as well," they explained.
Mrs. Prior stated that the defendants lacked "the ability to provide any account of what they did or why they did it."
