The London Fire Unit (LFB) said 80 firemen were shipped off St Imprint's congregation on Hamilton Patio in St John's Wood after a call at 23:19 GMT on Thursday.
Recordings via virtual entertainment showed the whole two-story building land with dark crest ascending from the blazes.
LFB said there were no reports of wounds. The ...reason for the fire, which is currently taken care of, isn't yet known.
Families in the space have been encouraged to keep windows and entryways shut.
A neighborhood occupant depicted the second he heard firemen show up at the scene after the blast broke out.
"I got up and peered out my window and the street outside was loaded with fire motors," he told.
"I thought at the time there probably been some mishap not too far off. I just got my jacket on, came outside the front entryway and just saw the congregation nearby was simply burning. It's awful, the entire church was ablaze - smoke all over. It's incredibly miserable on the grounds that it's an exceptionally old church and it's destroyed at this point."
Another observer portrayed seeing "bunches of blazes" which turned out to be "a lot greater before the rooftop collapsed".
Firemen are utilizing two 64-meter (209 ft) turntable stepping stools - identical to the most elevated in assistance across Europe - to get water on to the structure remotely.
LFB said specialists would now attempt to find the reason for the blast.
A London Emergency vehicle Administration representative said it sent a rescue vehicle group, a doctor in a quick reaction vehicle and individuals from its risky region reaction group to the scene.

Police have requested that the general population stay away from the area to permit crisis administrations to work.

The Public Chapels Trust records St Imprint's as a grade II Victorian church, depicting it as an "engineering and verifiable fortune".
The congregation, which has connections to creator Lewis Carroll and Sovereign Victoria's child Ruler Leopold, is close to Convent Street Studios and Master's Cricket Ground.
