In Rotterdam, an automobile accident on Boxing Day morning resulted in at least three fatalities. 
A fourth victim was eventually extricated from the rubble by rescuers, who then took them to a nearby hospital.
Police said on social media... that "two passenger automobiles are thought to have crashed head-on." The Groene Kruisplein was blocked off during the emergency reaction and subsequent investigation after the incident was reported there shortly before 6 a.m.
One automobile was entirely twisted up front by the collision's force and flipped over onto its side, according to photos taken at the site. The other car, a five-door Volkswagen compact, had severe front-end damage.That car's airbags looked to have inflated, and the collision was severe enough to cause the engine and transmission to come apart.
Emergency service personnel, including a mobile medical team flying in a helicopter, arrived to the event swiftly. A catastrophe coordinator from the fire department was also dispatched there.
A traffic accident analysis team will continue their investigation at the location on Monday morning, according to the police, to ascertain what transpired.
