No huge deal. The Dallas superstar just laid the groundwork for the most unusual triple-double in NBA history.

Doncic led the Mavericks to a thrilling 126-121 victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night with a franchise-record 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists, including the game-tying ... basket after his purposefully missed free throw to force overtime.

The thinned-out crowd anticipating a defeat erupted in wild celebration as the 23-year-old danced about and waved his arms after snatching the loose ball on a rebound and making the 11-foot shot in one move.

With 1.0 seconds left, the score read 115-115.

Many people questioned me about this in the locker room, and I said that I believed we had won, according to Doncic. "I went to the audience in this manner because of that. When I looked at the score, I believed we had won. My reaction was "Oof." Dallas trailed by nine with 33 seconds remaining in regulation before catching up thanks to a back-and-forth series that was completed by Doncic's deliberate miss that brushed the rim and the backboard.

Doncic's career-high in rebounds was part of Dallas' first 60-point performance, which also was the first 60+ points, 20+ rebounds, and 10+ assists game in NBA history. The young Slovenian produced the league's top season scoring output and recorded his eighth triple-double.With their fourth straight victory, the Mavericks surpassed.500 by three games, both totals marking season highs.

For the Knicks, who had just ended an eight-game winning streak—their longest in nearly nine years—and were led by Quentin Grimes' career-high 33 points and Dallas native Julius Randle's 29 points and 18 rebounds, they lost for the fourth time in a row.

Due to a hip injury, Jalen Brunson was unable to participate in the contest, which would have marked his return to Dallas.Despite trailing for less than a minute in regulation, New York was effectively down two starters as RJ Barrett left the game with a cut on a finger 96 seconds in.

Coach Tom Thibodeau of the New York Knicks stated, "I thought we were playing well. "Didn't finish the game in the final 30 seconds."

With 11.5 seconds remaining, Spencer Dinwiddie, who finished with 25 points, nailed a 3-pointer to get Dallas within 113-112 after Miles McBride missed both of his free throw attempts. With 7.7 seconds left, McBride converted both of his free throws to give Dallas the lead at 115-112, but Grimes fouled Doncic to prevent the star player from making a possible game-tying 3-pointer.
With 4.2 seconds left, Doncic missed the second free shot but hit the first one. The ball then bounced off numerous hands before landing in Doncic's hands.

Doncic replied, "I know it was two seconds or something." Hope it went in, I just tossed it up.

The first nine shots in overtime were all missed by both sides, with all of the points coming from free throws, before Doncic made a jump shot with 1:08 left to give his team a 122-117 lead.Doncic beat Dirk Nowitzki's previous club record of 53 from December 2, 2004, by shooting 21 of 31 from the floor and 16 of 22 from the line.
