Cody Gakpo will carry on playing football with Liverpool FC. The Oranje international was bought by the English team from PSV, the Eindhoven Eredivisionist reported on Monday night.

At the World Cup, the 23-year-old player made an impression by scoring three goals for the Oranje. Gakpo will fly out right away for England, where "he will go through the paperwork to complete the ...move," according to PSV.

The transfer fee information was not disclosed by either team. Marcel Brands, general manager of PSV, said that this was a record transfer. On Boxing Day, the PSV management completed the deal and authorized Gakpo to visit England for a medical check. According to reports, Liverpool spent 42 million euros on the striker.

This sum may increase to more than 55 million euros. Liverpool has not yet officially announced Gakpo's arrival, yet. Now, it looks like the native of Eindhoven played his final game for PSV on November 12 against AZ (0-1). Gakpo made his debut for Eindhoven on February 25, 2018, in a road match against Feyenoord, as a replacement in the team's starting lineup.

He played 16 times for the first team during the 2018–19 campaign, largely as a substitute. But in 11 games for Jong PSV, he added 10 more goals to his season total.

Gakpo has played in 106 Eredivisie games and scored 36 goals during that time. He presently leads the Eredivisie in goals scored with nine.
