He remarked in a forceful statement on Saturday: "Freedom comes at a high price. But slavery has an even higher price."

Millions of Ukrainians are without electricity, heat, and running water as a result of Russian missile and drone assaults.

Russian airstrikes earlier on Saturday killed 10, according to authorities, in Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine.

Authorities in the area said that 68 more people had been hurt and urged locals to provide blood ...immediately.
Mr. Zelensky called Russia a "terrorist country" and charged that Russian soldiers "murder for the sake of intimidation and pleasure."He wrote on social media that "the world must see and comprehend what pure evil we are battling against" and posted images of streets littered with burnt vehicles and dead bodies.

Ukraine recovered Kherson last month, the only regional capital taken by Russia since it began its full-scale assault on February 24.

Since then, Russian soldiers stationed on the eastern (left) side of the Dnipro river have often targeted it.

Moscow has consistently denied that its strikes intentionally target people. Vladimir Putin, however, has acknowledged that Russian forces have been attacking Ukraine's vital energy installations. The biggest day of the Ukrainian holiday season, Christmas Eve, is observed on January 6 by the majority of the country's Orthodox Christians.

The day has, however, been observed on December 24 by an increasing number of worshipers, in keeping with the majority of Christians across the world.

Late on Saturday, Mr. Zelensky addressed the nation via video, saying: "We suffered at the start of the conflict. Attacks, threats, nuclear blackmail, terror, and missile strikes were all suffered by us. Let's persevere through this winter since we are aware of our goals.

"We'll have a Christmas celebration! as usual. We'll beam a smile and be joyful. as usual. One makes the difference. No, we won't hold out for a miracle. After all, we are the ones who make it.

As the war approaches its eleventh month, Ukrainians claim that the difficulties have only strengthened them.

Intense battle raged on Saturday in the eastern Donbass area of Ukraine, when Russian soldiers targeted the vital town of Bakhmut.
