Hawaii's Kilauea volcano begins erupting.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano began erupting Wednesday morning, the Hawaii Volcano Observatory reported.
“On June 7, 2023, at approximately 4:44 a.m. (HST), the Hawaii Volcano Observatory (U.S. Geological Survey) detected a glow in a webcam image of the summit of Kilauea, indicating an eruption at the Halemaumau crater in the Kilauea summit caldera. has begun in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park," the observatory said in a statement.

...“The early stages of the eruption are dynamic. Webcam images show cracks in the base of the Halemaumau crater, producing lava flows on the surface of the crater floor. Activity is limited to Halemaumau. It has been identified and the risk will be reassessed as the epidemic progresses," HVO said.
Kilauea's alert level has been raised to red as a "warning," the observatory said. Currently, the eruption is confined to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The observatory said it was in "constant contact" with park officials.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency said on Twitter, "There are no indications at this time that populated areas are at risk."
Kilauea erupted in January and showed signs of "increasing civil unrest" in May. The volcano stopped erupting in December for the first time since September 2021.
