The 18-year-old shooter who shot and killed three people and injured six others, including two police officers, in Farmington, New Mexico, used three weapons, according to the city's police chief in a video press statement released Monday.
The perpetrator, who was slain by responding authorities, used an AR-15-style rifle and two other firearms while he wandered a quarter-mile area across a neighborhood Monday morning, according to Police Chief Steve Hebbe.

... The shooter murdered three persons and injured two police officers and four bystanders. He shot at least six residences and three vehicles before being apprehended by Farmington Police soon after 11 a.m. MDT.
According to the chief, the rampage appears to be random.
"There were no schools, churches, or individuals targeted," he added, adding that the shooter appeared to shoot at anything that "entered his head."
San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington received seven patients, according to an email from spokesperson Laura. Werbner stated that she was unable to remark on the patients' situations.According to the chief, a New Mexico State Police officer who was shot drove himself to the hospital and is still there.
"He's doing well right now," Stebbe remarked.
According to the chief, a Farmington Police officer who was also shot has been released from the hospital.
"The event is difficult to understand, how something like this happens," he remarked. "But we're doing our best to piece together (evidence) and talk with family members of the suspect to piece together what was going on" and figure out a motivation, he added.The crime scene is "wide and complex," and determining what transpired will take time, according to Stebbe.
Authorities have not identified any of the victims or the shooter. The chief stated that police will conduct another press conference on Tuesday afternoon.The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives' (ATF) Phoenix section had earlier tweeted that it was "responding to a report of a mass shooting" in Farmington.
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said she is praying for the victims and their families and has instructed the state to assist the city and county in their investigations.
"While details about this incident continue to emerge, it serves as yet another reminder of how gun violence destroys lives in our state and our country every single day," she said in a statement. "This administration will not stop fighting the epidemic of gun violence from every angle possible."
Farmington Mayor Nate Duckett said he has received messages of support from the White House, Washington congressmen, the Navajo Nation, and mayors across the state.
"We are a resilient community, a community that cares for each other," Duckett added. "In the face of adversity, we must stand together, comfort one another, and make a determined effort to heal these wounds so that we can emerge stronger and not allow this act of violence to define us."
Farmington, located in northern New Mexico, just south of the Colorado state line, has a population of around 46,400 people. It is located around 150 miles northwest of Albuquerque and approximately 50 miles from the Four Corners location, where the borders of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah converge.
