 According to authorities, a volley of Russian missiles has impacted cities across Ukraine.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, three bombs exploded in the city, killing at least one person. A hotel has also suffered damage.

The attacks came only two days after Russia ...launched one of the heaviest air raids since the war began.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned Russia may launch further assaults to make Ukrainians "enjoy the New Year in darkness".
In recent months, Russia has targeted Ukraine's energy industry, damaging power plants and putting millions into darkness during the country's bitter winter. Several prominent Ukrainian politicians have mentioned the strikes in social media posts, stressing that Russia will not be able to disrupt their festivities.
"The occupants have chosen to try to ruin our day," Mykolaiv Governor Vitaly Kim said on Facebook.
Valerii Zaluzhny, the director of Ukraine's armed forces, claimed air defenses had shot down 12 of 20 Russian cruise missiles.
People in Kyiv fled to shelters as air raid sirens wailed.
Emergency personnel was dispatched to various regions affected by the blasts.
Mr. Klitschko reported that 20 individuals were hurt in Kyiv, including a Japanese journalist.
On Telegram, Deputy Presidential Chief of Staff Kyrylo Tymoshenko stated that a hotel had been destroyed. Across the country, air defense has been activated.
A drone strike in the western city of Khmelnytskyi injured two persons, Mr. Tymoshenko noted.
The bombings occurred as Russian President Vladimir Putin attempted to galvanize public support for Russian forces fighting in Ukraine, claiming that the country's future was in danger.
"We always knew, and now it is reaffirmed to us yet again, that a sovereign, independent, and secure future for Russia rests solely on us, on our strength and will," Mr. Putin said in a combative New Year's message.

He characterized the invasion of Ukraine's sovereign territory as "defending our people and our historical territories".Ukraine's leadership has begged Western leaders for more air defenses, and US President Joe Biden recently agreed to deliver its Patriot system.
Ukraine's request that peace negotiations begin in 2023 was rejected by the Kremlin.
